Tales of Horror

Book Review:   Tales of Horror         This week I read is Tales of Horror . This book consist of three short stories, but all of them were so scary and made me frightened. Now I will write down three quotes and will discuss. The first one is: Malcom looked at the high-backed chair by the fire.(p. 12) This is the phrase of first story and it appeared a lot of rats. Malcom didn’t take care of them but when he found the biggest rat surprised and frightened. If I was him, I was surprised, too maybe. Second one is: The stone fell and hit the kitten.(p. 28) Because of it, the kitten was dead. They wanted to play with them but unfortunately killed it. This scene made me sad. And I thought the mother of it was so poor. The last one is: ‘ The Devil took you. And the Devil brought you back.’(p. 58) This is the last story’s phrase. Book Review:   The Woman in Black         This week I read is The Woman in Black. This is a horror story. And this book made me frightened, but I like it because the story was so interested for me. I wrote down three quotes which especially made me frightened. The first one is: The terrible cry of a child.(p.20) Actually there was nobody there, but he(Kipps) heard it in dark mist. Through reading to continue this book I could understand why the voice came to him. There was a sad story. Second one is: Most of her body was now under mud and water.(p.43) “her” means a little dog. I like dogs so this phrase made me frightened and sad. Luckily she was rescued by Kipps. But I thought mud is dangerous. The last one is: In my dreams, the woman in black pushed her terrible face near mine.(p.52) Next to this page there is a picture of this scene, and the woman’s face was so horror. LOVE STORY

Book Review:   LOVE STORY (2000)         This week I read is LOVE STORY . This is written by ERICH SEGAL. This book’s level is 3. As for me there are some uneasy parts to understand because I confused of people’s name. But this book was interesting. Now I wrote down three quotes and will discuss. The first one is: ‘ I love you very much, Oliver. ’(p.19) This is the phrase of Jenny’s. Firstly Jenny was thinking Oliver is nagging. But through a lot of time with Oliver she started to fall in love with him gradually. This phrase made me happy and exciting. Second one is: I had decided not to tell anyone about my troubles. (p.44) This troubles means Jenny’s blood disease. When Oliver was told about this from doctor, he was so sad. However he decided not to tell it and show sad face. I thought he is kind and strong.   Book Review: The House in the Picture and Abbot Thomas’ Treasure (1998)         This week I read is The House in the Picture and Abbot Thomas’ Treasure. There are two short stories. This is written horror in orange book, but I thought strange stories. About this book, I wrote down three quotes and will discuss them. The first one is: ‘ That is strange! I didn’t see it before, ’ (p. 13) When I read this phrase, I was surprised. Because it means a picture was changed nevertheless it was finished and no one add anything. It’s so strange.. isn’t it? The second is: ‘ I want to remove all the black paint from the three windows, ’ (p. 40) This is second stories’ phrase. I thought Mr. Somerton (an archeologist) is clever, because when he removed it blue writing appeared. And the last is: “ The guardian is sleeping. Do not wake him. ” When Somerton went to well, he was attacked someone actually it was a guardian. He had thought it is dead already so he was surprised
