The Woman in Black
Book Review:
The Woman in
Black
This week I read is The Woman in
Black. This is a horror story. And this book made me frightened, but I like
it because the story was so interested for me. I wrote down three quotes which
especially made me frightened. The first one is: The
terrible cry of a child.(p.20) Actually
there was nobody there, but he(Kipps) heard it in dark mist. Through reading to
continue this book I could understand why the voice came to him. There was a
sad story. Second one is: Most of her body was now under mud and
water.(p.43) “her” means a little dog. I like dogs so this phrase made
me frightened and sad. Luckily she was rescued by Kipps. But I thought mud is
dangerous. The last one is: In my dreams, the woman in black pushed her
terrible face near mine.(p.52) Next to this page there is a picture of
this scene, and the woman’s face was so horror. In addition this phrase is easy
to understand and I could imagine clearly without the picture. So I felt
frightened.
I want to recommend this book. Because to find the reason of phenomenon
is interesting. Actually the scene Kipps’ child died is imply the mystery and
made me surprising. I want everyone to experience this frighten feeling. This
book is horror but there are few difficult words and easy to reading.
