Floods

 Book Review

Today I read “Floods”. This book had few words or sentences, so it was easy to reading. This was consisted from two stories. The first one is “The Bad-Tempered Bandit” and another one is “The Hole in the Sky”.

“The Bad-Tempered Bandit” (A myth from China)

There was a bandit before who was very bad-tempered and his gang of followers were all horrible. They were always fighting and quarreling. One day, the Queen got so fed up that she took her army to fight the bandits. They liked fighting, but they didn’t like the lock of the Queen and her soldiers. Lastly all gang ran away and the bandit fought only himself.

“The bandit ran towards it as fast as he could… and butted it with his head.”

“it” means a bamboo. Suddenly the bandit hit it with his head and this made me surprising. He did it twice and lastly snapped it off. I felt how hard his head is.

“The Hole in the Sky” ( A myth from North America)

One year, long ago, the water in all the rivers and lakes in North America began to get higher. The water soon got so high that it crept close to everyone’s homes. The people and animals climbed up to big hills. Then the Great Mother gathered all stars from the sky.

Other day a spider found a big reed and thanks to it everyone could escape there and go to other world.

“At once, the restless stars burst out and splattered all over the sky.”

This part was impressive for me. “the sky” means new world’s. The picture of this scene was beautiful.

I want to read more and more books through this year.
